Fall is hands-down one of my favorite seasons. The cool mornings, crisp air, and of course, all the cozy outfits. And when you’re raising a little cowboy, you know they need to be warm enough for barn chores but cute enough for pumpkin patch photos.
So, I rounded up my go-to fall baby looks, tested and approved by my own barn-raised boy. Every single item on this list has been worn, washed, and put through the wringer (aka: the barn), and they’ve all passed the test.
1. Carhartt Baby Canvas Bibs
These are an absolute staple. They come with or without fleece lining, so you can choose the warmth level that works for your climate. I have the fleece-lined pair for those chilly mornings and they’ve been worth every penny. Sturdy, warm, and still cute enough for a quick trip to town.
2. Carhartt Long Sleeve Zip Front Overalls
This one-piece suit is my secret weapon for brisk fall mornings. It’s quick to zip on (because dressing a baby can sometimes feel like you entered the calf scramble at your local rodeo), and it keeps my little guy toasty during chores. Pair it with cotton booties and you’ve got a cozy, chore-ready cowboy.
3. Beanies
You can never have too many beanies, trust me, one will always end up in the dirty laundry hamper covered in hay. Keeping your little one’s head warm is a must in the fall and winter, and a good beanie is the simplest way to do it. I love that you can find them in different colors and thicknesses to match any outfit or weather. And if you want a more personalized touch, the leather patch styles are not only cute but also make perfect gifts.
4. Children’s Place Bootcut Denim Jeans
These jeans are built for little boys on the move. No flared hems here! Just a classic bootcut that works with boots or sneakers. They’re perfect for long-legged babies and look even cuter paired with the Children’s Place Thermal Henley for those pumpkin patch photos.
5. Baby Shoes & Booties
No outfit is complete without footwear. For infants, cotton booties are my go-to. They’re like wearing a thick sock but with the bonus of actually staying on tiny, active feet. For toddlers, I’m all about non-skid sock shoes. They help with balance when little cowboys are learning to walk and can handle everything from dirt paths to gravel driveways.
Dressing your little cowboy for fall doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right mix of warmth, comfort, and a touch of western style, you’ll have them ready for anything — from barn chores to family outings.
